GTA: Two Post Friday

So not an hour after the last post, our group finally got one of the new pieces of equipment that we ordered. We ended up with two extremely large wooden boxes from Japan, and a relatively small lab to put them in. Thankfully, we never had to worry about how to get them both in the lab, since the one box was far too big to even fit through the door, mostly because the dimensions we were told about the box were just plain wrong. Of course, the first plan was to dismantle the double doors, until after getting one door off when we discovered that the hallway after the door was also too small to get the box through. So we phoned the guy in charge of delivery, told him the problem, and declared the only way to get it in was to take the box apart. He apparently agreed and in not 10 minutes somebody found two crowbars and a hacksaw and the afternoon started to get interesting.

Needless to say, not much of the box survived, although the only pictures I have are from my phone, so not the best quality. However to give an idea of the day:

Oh waaahhh waaahhh. Poison Gas. Let's just leave it there.
- Andy, on the subject of how the giant box is blocking a fire door.

Now I'm not pointing fingers but somebody really screwed this one up

Now nobody say anything about that to the facilities people.
- Said after a large-ish piece of wood was put through a ceiling light cover.

Any time now those two Japanese engineers are going to jump out and start yelling at us... "why you open box!? You not supposed to open box! You void warranty!..."
- Almost anybody but, again, mostly Paddy

This is about to become a racial crime because you just pissed me off. Now what're you going to come back as?
- Paddy, while threatening Santosh with a crowbar.

So, in short, to answer the question "How many engineers does it take to move a box?", the answer is apparently 10, but only if three of them have Ph.D's
